Eddie Bruce-Jones is a legal academic and a trained anthropologist, based in London. He researches and writes on migration, racism, sexuality, colonialism, state violence and citizenship. He is the author of Race in the Shadow of Law: State Violence in Contemporary Europe (Routledge, 2016) and is on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Race Relations and the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group as well as the Editorial Board of the Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law. Eddie is currently engaged in the research project, "Kaala Paani and the Archive: South Asian Indenture to Jamaica" (supported by short-stay research fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal Research). He also continues to engage in comparative study of policing related deaths in Europe.
