Race and Law in Europe: Texts, Cases and Materials (forthcoming, Hart Publishing) Barskanmaz, C., E. Bruce-Jones, A. Kóczé and M. Möschel.

Race and Law in Europe is the first and only resource to critically analyse case law, legislative provisions, scholarly literature and socio-political debates from across Europe, working mainly from original language versions, with the aim of providing a theoretically rich framework for understanding race in European legal systems. Race remains an under-explored legal concept and a controversial topic for lawmakers, courts and scholars in many European countries. As such, the ambition of this project is to advance a nuanced understanding of race in the legal context that can be used as a tool for scholars and advocates across Europe. Readers will gain a fuller understanding of how law shapes, magnifies and produces the effects of racism in Europe’s communities, institutions and public spaces.
